Without an app

The Calendar app can show the week numbers in its calendar:

  1. Open the Calendar app, and choose “Calendar › Settings”.
  2. Click “Advanced”, and turn on “Show week numbers”.

This is good when you sometimes need the week number of a date. To always see the current week, you must have it in the menu bar, and macOS cannot show it there.
